The Tone:

• Mission: Deliver the U.S. Army Cadet Command JROTC program to high school students, preparing them for college, career, and life.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruct: Deliver the U.S. Army Cadet Command curriculum effectively in the classroom, ensuring active student engagement and comprehensive learning in every subject, every day.
• Develop: Foster the growth of students to become creative problem solvers, cultivating their self-awareness, self-reliance, and self-discipline in alignment with the district’s broader educational objectives.
• Guide: Mentor students in developing strong communication and collaboration skills, preparing them to be effective participants and technically literate citizens in their future careers and community roles.
• Promote: Instill values of integrity and encourage robust community engagement among students, integrating these principles into the JROTC program’s activities and lessons.
• Integrate: Blend rigorous academic instruction with career-based learning opportunities and real-world workplace experiences, ensuring students are comprehensively prepared for college, career, and life readiness upon graduation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Hold current certification from the U.S. Army Cadet Command. You must have served as a Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO) or a Warrant Officer in the U.S. military. No specific degree is required for this role.
• Credential: Possess a Designated Subjects Special Subjects Reserve Officer Training Corps Credential for California. An additional authorization for teaching English Learners is required at the time of hire.
• Skills: Expertise in delivering the U.S. Army Cadet Command curriculum, strong leadership and mentorship abilities, and proficiency in educational program management within a school setting.
