The Tone:
This is an early career accounting position at Beynon Sports, a part of Tarkett Sports, located in Hunt Valley, MD. Beynon Sports designs, manufactures, and constructs world-class running tracks, while Tarkett Sports provides architectural design, construction services, and a comprehensive portfolio of sports surfacing solutions. This Junior Accountant role is crucial for supporting core accounting functions, ensuring accurate monthly close processes, assisting with financial reporting, and maintaining internal controls within an evolving environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Monthly Close Support: Support the monthly close by preparing reconciliations, schedules, and recurring journal entries for accruals, prepaids, commissions, and insurance.
• Transaction Processing: Assist with billing, collections tracking, accounts payable, and credit card coding while preparing supporting schedules for various reports.
• Internal Controls & Audit: Maintain proper documentation aligned with internal controls and support internal and external audits by gathering necessary schedules and documentation.
• Collaboration & Improvement: Partner with the Business Controller and finance team on close processes, budgeting, ad-hoc analysis, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; suited for someone early in their accounting career.
• Experience: 1–4 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience. Experience with reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting is an asset. Preferred experience in project-based industries such as construction or manufacturing.
• Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ability to manage deadlines and prioritize recurring tasks, solid Excel skills.
• Bonus: Exposure to audits or supporting documentation, experience with BI tools or ERP systems, and adaptability in evolving processes and systems.
