The Opportunity: Junior Accountant

We are seeking a Junior Accountant to support our team at Beynon Sports. This position is ideal for someone early in their accounting career who is organized, curious, and comfortable working in an evolving environment. You will work closely with the Business Controller, assisting with reconciliations, journal entries, reporting preparation, and supporting documentation used by both divisional and corporate finance.

This role is responsible for preparing core accounting work that supports monthly close, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Location: Hunt Valley, MD office.

What You’ll Do

Month-End Close & Core Accounting

  • Support monthly close by preparing reconciliations, schedules, and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with balance sheet, bank, and credit card reconciliations, Work-in-Progress (WIP) and deferred revenue, and depreciation tracking.
  • Prepare recurring journal entries (accruals, prepaids, commissions, insurance, etc.).
  • Ensure all entries are accurate, well-documented, and audit-ready.

Transaction Processing & Accounting Support

  • Assist with billing, collections tracking, accounts payable, and credit card coding.
  • Prepare supporting schedules for reporting (AR aging, backlog, headcount inputs, etc.).

Controls, Audit & Compliance

  • Maintain proper documentation in line with internal controls.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and gathering documentation.

Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Partner with the Business Controller and finance team on close, budgeting, and ad-hoc analysis.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance efficiency.

What You Need For Success

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1–4 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
  • Experience with reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting is an asset.
  • Exposure to audits or supporting documentation is a plus.
  • Experience in project-based industries (e.g., construction or manufacturing) is preferred.
  • Solid Excel skills; experience with BI tools or ERP systems is an asset.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize recurring tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Adaptable in evolving processes and systems.
