Intern Year Round – R&D Undergrad | Sandia National Laboratories

What You’ll Actually Do
• Assembly: Assemble test fixtures and demonstration prototypes.
• Programming: Program hardware control and interface systems.
• Experimentation: Perform experiments with novel systems while working on-site.
• Support: Support various laboratory and project needs.
• Reporting: Report results in reports, presentations, or technical journals.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently attending and enrolled full-time in an accredited undergraduate program, pursuing a science, engineering, or math major.
• Experience: Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0; ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer. Must be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, asylee, or refugee in the U.S.
• Skills: Programming experience (e.g., Matlab or Python); Experience operating in a research laboratory environment with basic knowledge of laboratory safety and test equipment operation.
• Bonus: Currently enrolled in undergraduate-level coursework in electrical engineering, physics or a related engineering/science field; Experience with hand and power tools; Hands-on experience in fabrication or manufacturing, such as electromechanical systems; Excellent organizational skills with attention to details; Strong writing and verbal communication skills; Ability to work in a team/group project environment and to solve challenging problems; Ability to learn new skills and techniques.
