About the Job

Assist and support activities for the NANA Works program during the summer season.

NANA will provide lodging and transportation for applicants outside the Anchorage/Matsu Valley area. For more details, feel free to reach out! Internships will run from June to August with some flexibility based on individual availability.

Responsibilities

  • Attend weekly intern events for professional development, cultural learning, and wellness.
  • Operates with strict confidentiality, safeguarding sensitive and proprietary information at all times.
  • Learn how to navigate and effectively utilize the software for the Talent Bank. This includes career path exploration, how to refer shareholders to resources, resume and cover letter creation, document case notes, creating key performance indicator reports, and analyzing the data.
  • Learn how to navigate and effectively utilize the software for MS Teams and SharePoint, expense reporting, and artificial intelligence.
  • Attend meetings with other NANA departments, external partners, and potential vendors. Facilitate prepared material, take meeting minutes, and assist with follow-up actions.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating logistics for public events, special projects, and external entities. This could include accommodation and transportation for participants, facilities, catering, signage, displays, and special needs requirements.
  • Maintain and organize files and documents to track data and information gathered. Scan, copy, or print documents for special projects, documenting purposes, or records need.
  • Make outgoing calls, as needed, to support the department.
  • Shadow other NANA Works and Shareholder Relations staff to understand the scope of work and the responsibilities of the department.
  • Other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success may also be assigned.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must be a shareholder of NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., or a direct descendant of a shareholder. In accordance with NANA’s Shareholder Preference Hiring Policy, priority will be given to NANA shareholders first, followed by shareholder descendants.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be enrolled in college or a vocational school full-time and complete one semester of postsecondary education.
  • Candidates with MS Office skills may be given preference.
  • Be willing to learn interpersonal, communication, organizational, and administrative skills.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Indoors/Outdoors. Indoor: environmentally controlled; requires most or all work done inside. Outdoors: Frequently exposed to extreme weather conditions (wind and rain).

Noise level: Quiet when in an office setting, moderate to loud when visiting various job sites.

Description of environment: Office building with a standard office environment.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. occasionally. Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

Travel: Employees may travel up to 30% to Kotzebue and/or other remote locations and may be required to use alternative modes of transportation, including, but not limited to, snow machines, boats, small airplanes, and ATVs.

The position requires reading, detailed work, problem solving, interactions with other companies including other NANA companies, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, will require the employee in the position to manage multiple concurrent tasks, and handle constant interruptions.
