Job Summary
This Finance Internship provides an excellent opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience within a corporate finance department. Under close supervision, the intern will perform essential clerical activities, including financial data entry, meticulous record keeping, and data gathering to support various reporting purposes. This role is designed to introduce aspiring finance professionals to the practical application of financial principles in a real-world business environment, specifically within the transportation industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the development and refinement of financial models to support strategic decision-making.
- Provide general accounting support, which may include tasks related to journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Help with accounts receivable management, including monitoring outstanding balances and assisting with collection efforts.
- Provide crucial support for the annual budgeting process, contributing to data collection, analysis, and consolidation.
- Assist with statistical analysis of financial data and contribute to other special ad-hoc projects as assigned.
- Prepare and present data-driven recommendations to the finance team, enhancing analytical and presentation skills.
- Compile and prepare monthly and quarterly financial analysis packets for management, offering insights into performance and trends.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related major.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required.
- Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction and report preparation.
- Highly motivated individual with a genuine desire to learn and contribute to the finance team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to perform data analysis, create spreadsheets, and utilize relevant functions.

Compensation
Starting pay for this internship will be determined by various factors, including the candidate’s skills, educational background, relevant experience, geographical considerations, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for annual bonus and incentives, based on the Company’s profitability or volumes, in accordance with the terms of J.B. Hunt’s bonus and incentive plans applicable at the time.

Education

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (or a related field).
