Job Title: Junior Transportation Project Manager

Location: DeLand, Florida (On-Site)

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a motivated Junior Transportation Project Manager to play a crucial role in leading and delivering impactful transportation projects for the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). This position offers an exciting opportunity to engage in the full project lifecycle, from early scoping through design development and delivery. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and regional transportation partners, supporting plan development, managing project schedules, and ensuring efficient, successful project delivery. Strong coordination, communication, and collaboration skills are essential for keeping stakeholders aligned and projects moving forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help lead and deliver impactful transportation projects on behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT).
  • Be involved in the full project lifecycle, from early scoping through design development and delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and regional transportation partners.
  • Support the development of plans and manage project schedules.
  • Ensure projects are delivered efficiently and successfully, actively participating in stakeholder alignment.
  • Perform specific and moderate portions of broader assignments under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
  • Execute detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
  • Propose approaches to solve new problems encountered, utilizing modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.
  • Identify discrepancies in results and propose solutions.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to entry-level engineers.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with limited supervision.
  • Independently perform tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • 4 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Engineer Intern (EI) certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 2 years of Project Management experience or similar project coordination experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Experience with FDOT Design Manuals and Standard Plans.
  • Experience in the following skills:
    • Perform plan reviews.
    • Perform scope reviews.
    • Review bid documents and specifications.
    • Review project cost estimates (design, CST/CEI).
  • Project Management experience, including but not limited to:
    • Review and identify fatal flaws in project schedules.
    • Ability to lead project meetings with Local Agencies.
    • Ability to coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage time efficiently while handling multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Compensation and Benefits

The offered rate of compensation for this position is between $90,000 to $120,000 USD yearly, based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Sponsorship may be available for current visa holders in the United States.
