The Tone:
This is a part-time internship at J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc., located in Chester, NY. J.B. Hunt provides comprehensive transportation and logistics services to customers across North America. This role offers students a valuable opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience within the dynamic supply chain industry. As an intern, you will contribute to daily operations and develop a foundational understanding of critical transportation management principles.

• Mission: Provide support to customers by assisting with transportation and logistics services, gaining foundational understanding and practical experience in supply chain operations.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop foundational knowledge of basic transportation management principles.
• Participate in daily operational tasks including planning freight, managing asset utilization, and overseeing driver supervision.
• Ensure compliance with safety management and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Support various administrative and analytical functions such as driver payroll, profit-and-loss management, and maintenance coordination.
• Perform pertinent account-specific duties as required by customers and develop an understanding of industry trends related to driver retention.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate business degree program or related field, in good standing at an accredited college or university.
• Experience: Commitment to complete a 12-week internship program, able to work 20-25 hours per week.
• Skills: Strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and flexibility to work flexible hours.
• Bonus: Junior or Senior level standing in an undergraduate program and previous work experience in Transportation/Logistics.
