What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaborate: Work directly alongside city employees, department managers, elected officials, and community leaders to gain firsthand insight into the functioning of local government.
• Gain Exposure: Immerse yourself in the operations of various city divisions, including City Administration, Finance, Human Resources, Public Safety (Police and Fire), Public Works, Engineering, Community Development, Public Access Television, and Parks and Recreation.
• Support Operations: Contribute to projects and daily tasks within specific City departments such as the City Manager’s Office, City Clerk’s Office, Community Services, Human Resources, Maintenance and Facilities, Information Technology, Engineering Services, Fire, and Police.
• Receive Mentorship: Benefit from mentorship and shadowing opportunities provided by experienced City staff, fostering professional growth and practical skill development.
• Align Career Goals: Undertake assignments and responsibilities that align with your intended career discipline, culminating in a formal performance evaluation to mark your achievements and progress within the program.
