Junior Estimator | CEC Facilities Group

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at CEC Facilities Group, primarily based out of one of our Texas offices in DFW or Austin, with requirements for travel to project sites and to our Montana office as needed. CEC is a premier specialty contractor focused on electrical systems and operations for various facilities. As a Junior Estimator, you will be a vital team member, contributing to preliminary estimates, cost reports, and proposals that ensure the company’s high standards and performance. This role is crucial for supporting the estimating team’s analytical functions and driving successful project completion.

• Mission: Prepare preliminary estimates and assist with crucial cost reports to support the estimating team’s analytical functions and project development.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Take-off Execution: Perform detailed digital and manual take-offs for light fixtures, power & lighting devices, and Low Voltage (LV) Systems devices, ensuring accuracy in quantity and scope.
• Project Software Management: Set up new projects within Accubid software and accurately input data using LiveCount or manual methods to support comprehensive estimation.
• Drawing & Specification Analysis: Review and verify square footage on architectural and structural drawings, utilizing Bluebeam to identify and document changes, and interpret project specifications relevant to take-off responsibilities.
• Field & Pre-Bid Engagement: Attend required pre-bid meetings and job walks to gain insights into project requirements, and commit to periodic on-site/prefab shop modules for practical operational experience.
• Comprehensive Training & Development: Participate in a mandatory 2-year Electrical Trades Class covering electrical theory, NEC, and practices, alongside developing core electrical estimating skills like counting, lighting, and distribution takeoffs, aiming for Journeyman Prep.

The Must-Haves
• Background: A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required, forming the foundation for a career in electrical estimating and operations.
• Experience: While a minimum of one year of estimating experience is preferred, the essential requirement is a strong willingness to learn and grow within the electrical contracting field.
• Skills: Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Bluebeam is essential; strong written and verbal communication skills coupled with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy are critical. Candidates must be highly organized, task-oriented, possess an excellent sense of priority, and demonstrate an independent, self-motivated work ethic with a collaborative customer service focus.
• Bonus: Previous experience with Accubid and LiveCount software will be highly regarded, along with a proven record of reliability, sound judgment, and professionalism.
