The Tone:
This is an early career cybersecurity position at SAIC, a premier technology integrator, located in a hybrid capacity in Washington, DC. SAIC solves complex modernization and systems engineering challenges for the nation’s defense, space, federal civilian, and intelligence markets. This role is critical for supporting a U.S. government agency by maintaining and enhancing their production security environment, allowing a cybersecurity professional to take on significant technical responsibility.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations: Perform routine configuration, maintenance, and operational support for enterprise cybersecurity tools independently.
• Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Conduct daily health checks, investigate alerts, and perform initial troubleshooting before escalating complex issues.
• Automation: Develop and maintain basic automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, or Bash to support operational efficiency.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation for procedures, configurations, and operational changes across environments.
• Collaboration & Improvement: Collaborate with security operations, compliance, and IT teams to support requirements and recommend workflow improvements.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; must be a U.S. Citizen capable of obtaining and maintaining a Public Trust clearance.
• Experience: 0 or more years of hands-on experience supporting cybersecurity or IT systems in an enterprise or government environment; practical experience with one or more categories of security tools (endpoint, identity, network, cloud, or logging platforms); working knowledge of Windows and/or Linux systems.
• Skills: Demonstrated experience with scripting or automation fundamentals using PowerShell, Python, or Bash; strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently on assigned tasks while seeking guidance when appropriate.
• Bonus: Experience working with SIEM, logging, or security analytics platforms; exposure to cloud security controls in Azure, AWS, or GCP; one or more cybersecurity certifications (CompTIA Security+, vendor fundamentals, or equivalent); experience supporting federal or regulated environments.
