Role Description
This role is crucial for T-Mobile’s organizational decision-making. The Data Analyst Intern will be responsible for:
- Analyzing business requirements and translating them into data requirements, including reports and visualizations.
- Interpreting complex data sets to identify trends and inform business strategies.
- Collaborating with various stakeholders to define data elements, capture metadata, and prepare data for analysis.
- The success of this role is measured by the accuracy and relevance of data insights and the timely delivery of data products, directly impacting data-driven decisions and improving data quality management processes across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with business subject matter experts and data professionals to define critical data elements and prepare data for analysis.
- Perform data profiling and monitor data quality, working with data stewards and quality leads to support remediation efforts.
- Partner with product owners and agile teams to ensure timely and quality delivery of data-related projects.
- Interpret data models and convert user requirements into technical specifications and design documents.
- Responsible for other duties/projects as assigned by business management as needed.
Education and Work Experience Requirements
Required:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree OR graduate degree. Must graduate between December 2026 or June 2027 to be eligible.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be actively enrolled in a degree program or graduated within the last year.
- Employees of T-Mobile or Metro by T-Mobile are ineligible for internships.
Preferred (2-4 years of experience in the following areas):
- Experience in data identification, querying, cleaning, wrangling, checking quality, working with common relational and non-relational databases in big data environments on both on-prem and cloud such as Azure, AWS and Google Cloud.
- Experience articulating and translating business questions and using statistical techniques to arrive at an answer using data.
- Experience writing and speaking about technical concepts to business, technical, and lay audiences and giving data-driven presentations.
- Experience working with relational databases using SQL.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau etc.
- Experience with big data architecture and pipeline, such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark, and Kafka is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Required:
- Technology Knowledge: Knowledge of relational databases and data architecture computer systems, including but not limited to SQL.
- Technology Experience: Working with relational databases using SQL.
- Technology Experience: Data querying, cleaning, wrangling, working with common relational and non-relational databases in big data environments such as Azure, AWS and Google Cloud.
- Technology Experience: Articulating and translating business questions and using statistical techniques to arrive at an answer using data.
- Technology Skills: Data Visualization skills using tools such as PowerBI, Tableau etc.
- Communication: Excellent presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Agile: Familiarity with Agile Methodology.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical, critical-thinking skills with demonstrated ability to analyze/synthesize data and generate insights.
Additional Information
- Visa Sponsorship: Employer does not sponsor work visas for this position, including for F-1 status students desiring sponsorship after education completion.
- Relocation: May be provided to program participants who reside more than 50 miles from the internship location.
- Compensation: Intern wages range from $20/hour to $40/hour, based on experience and location.
