Community and Outreach Intern

Company Description: Sigma Growth Specialists is best recognized as an international boutique consultancy focused on helping enterprises and startups with scalability and growth.

Our client is seeking a remote Community and Outreach Intern to support the growth and engagement of its North American network by helping connecting advisors, startups and ecosystem partners. You will act as a liaison between Sigma Growth Specialists and our client, as well as the liaison between our client and their network.

Position Overview

The Community Outreach Intern supports the growth and engagement of the GRAB North America network by helping connect advisors, startups, and ecosystem partners.

This role focuses on relationship-building, outreach initiatives, and community management within the advisor network. The selected candidate will contribute to expanding the network while ensuring meaningful engagement with existing members to ensure sustained engagement, retention, and mission alignment.

This position is ideal for individuals interested in startup ecosystems, professional communities, and nonprofit network development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Outreach & Network Growth
    • Execute targeted marketing and outreach campaigns to academic programs, professional associations, and startup ecosystems across North America.
    • Develop content and strategic partnerships with universities, accelerators, and women-in-business organizations that articulate the client’s mission and attract mission-aligned advisors and founders.
  • Community Engagement
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for the active advisor network, facilitating introductions, engagement touch points (spotlights, meetups, recognition programs), and proactive re-engagement where needed.
    • Collect and synthesize advisor feedback to communicate insights to the broader team and support continuous program improvement.
    • Support communication and engagement with advisors, startups, and the organization’s members.
    • Help maintain active participation within the North American advisor network.
    • Contribute to community initiatives such as networking events, advisor spotlights, and ecosystem engagement.
  • DEI-Driven Recruitment
    • Lead the Recruitment First initiative — sourcing diverse, high-caliber talent from underrepresented backgrounds to ensure all advisory boards meet GRAB’s gender-balance and inclusion standards.
    • Track diversity metrics across the incoming advisor pipeline and present progress reporting to organizational leadership.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to build and grow professional communities or networks, preferably within academic, startup, or nonprofit ecosystems, including multi-channel campaign execution.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building competencies across diverse professional audiences, with a high degree of professional flexibility and a collaborative, mission-oriented disposition.
  • Preferred minimum 4 years of professional experience in Marketing, Partnerships, Community Management, Business Development, or a closely related discipline.
  • An advanced degree is not required; demonstrated community-building and outreach experience are the primary criteria for selection.
