The Tone:
This is an internship at Hillstone Restaurant Group, located across the United States. Hillstone Restaurant Group is a privately-held collection of upscale restaurants renowned for quality and consistency. This program is specifically designed for rising seniors who have a serious interest in pursuing a career in either restaurant management or culinary management. It offers comprehensive exposure to the restaurant business, focusing on daily operations, service, and management-level functions.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Type: Seasonal
• Location: United States (In-person, with strong focus on East Hampton, NY and Aspen, CO, but placements nationwide)
• Pay: $1000 weekly (average minimum)
• Mission: To provide rising seniors with comprehensive exposure and hands-on experience in upscale restaurant operations and management functions.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Operations: Develop a deep understanding of the day-to-day workings of an upscale restaurant, covering both front-of-house and back-of-house activities.
• Apprenticeship: Spend the majority of time apprenticing various staff-level roles to gain hands-on experience and master essential operational skills.
• Management Observation: Observe and understand critical management responsibilities, including hiring, onboarding, staff training, and development.
• Financial Insight: Gain insight into management functions related to coaching, performance management, inventory oversight, and P&L (Profit & Loss) understanding.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Must be a rising senior with a serious interest in restaurant management or culinary management.
• Experience: Prior experience working in restaurants is not a prerequisite for this internship.
• Skills: Demonstrated interest in the restaurant industry, willingness to engage in staff-level apprenticeship, and adaptability to potential relocation for placement.
• Bonus: Previous restaurant experience, while not required, can be helpful.
