About the David W. Davis Memorial Internship

Through a 13-week paid public service opportunity at the Massachusetts Port Authority, the David W. Davis Memorial Internship provides students an immersive experience working within one of Massport’s dynamic departments. In addition to gaining valuable work experience, students will develop a professional network that will aid them in their pursuit of a career in government and/or the public sector. The internship is awarded annually to an exceptional junior or senior in college.

David W. Davis was the longest-serving Executive Director in the history of the Massachusetts Port Authority, leading Massport from 1975 until 1990.

About the Internship Experience

The David W. Davis Memorial Intern will engage in tasks and responsibilities that expose them to various aspects of Massport’s projects, initiatives, and processes. Additionally, they will gain an understanding of the Authority’s operational complexities. Massport’s objective is to empower students to apply and challenge their knowledge and skills while further developing their competencies.

Internship placements within Massport will be tailored to the student’s area of study and interest, encompassing fields such as:

What You Offer (Qualifications)

To be considered for the David W. Davis Memorial Internship, students must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of the city of Boston, Chelsea, Revere or Winthrop.
  • Be a college junior or senior as of fall 2025, with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Priority will be given to first-generation students.
  • Ability to pass a Massport controlled substances test and security background check.
