Hillstone Summer Internship Program

Hillstone’s summer internship is designed for rising seniors with a serious interest in pursuing a career in restaurant management or culinary management.

Job Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities:

• Exposure to the Business in its Entirety: Gain a comprehensive understanding of all facets of restaurant operations.
• Focus on Daily Operations and Service: Develop a deep understanding of the core functions of a high-end restaurant.
• Apprenticeship in Staff-Level Roles: Spend the majority of your time learning hands-on by working alongside experienced staff members.
• Understanding Management-Level Functions: Opportunity to learn about key management responsibilities, which may include:
  • Hiring and onboarding processes
  • Training and development of staff
  • Coaching and performance management
  • Inventory management and control
  • P&L (Profit & Loss) oversight and financial understanding

Previous experience working in restaurants is helpful, but not a prerequisite for this program.

Internship Placements, Locations, and Compensation:

• Placement Determination: Intern placements will be determined by best fit and assigned to an operating team in one of our restaurants.
• Primary Locations: A strong focus is placed on placements in East Hampton, NY and Aspen, CO.
• Nationwide Opportunities: Placements may also be in other Hillstone Restaurant Group locations across the country, as we have 38 properties around the United States. Relocation is contingent upon employment and placement.
• Compensation: Compensation will vary based on the assigned location but will average at least $1000 per week.

Qualifications:

• Applicants should be rising seniors in an academic program.
• A serious interest in pursuing a career in restaurant management or culinary management is essential.
• Placement for the internship is decided upon hire, based on fit to the operating team.
