The Tone:
This is an internship at GlobalFoundries, located in Malta, NY. GlobalFoundries is a leading full-service semiconductor foundry, providing design, development, and fabrication services globally. This role is part of GlobalFoundries’ entry-level talent pipeline, designed to equip students with the skills needed for a career in the semiconductor industry. The TL;DR

• Type: Full-time
• Location: Malta, NY (In-person)
• Pay: $20–$40 hourly
• Team: Process & Equipment Engineering team, reporting to an assigned Engineer
• Mission: This intern will contribute to enhancing semiconductor fabrication processes by reducing variability, improving problem detection, and optimizing operational costs.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Optimize Process Recovery: Reduce variability in process recovery procedures.
• Improve Detection: Enhance the Limit of Detection (LOD) to detect problems earlier.
• Cost Reduction: Decrease the cost of chemicals and/or qualification wafers.
• Process Standardization: Standardize processes across similar equipment.
• Performance Measurement: Enhance process performance measurement techniques.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, at least at the sophomore level, with an overall 3.0 GPA.
• Experience: Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.
• Skills: English fluency (written & verbal).
• Bonus: Prior related internship or co-op experience, project management skills (ability to innovate and execute on impactful solutions; ability to navigate ambiguity), strong written and verbal communication skills, strong planning & organizational skills, demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments, ability to understand complex automated systems and human interactions, and SPC Controls experience.
