Construction Management Intern | Kiewit
The Tone:
This is a Full Time Temporary internship at Kiewit, where projects are located across the United States, requiring extensive travel and relocation. Kiewit specializes in executing complex infrastructure projects, including power generation facilities, tunnels, and bridges. This role offers a unique, hands-on opportunity to develop and learn essential construction management functions, directly contributing to major infrastructure development within the Power Market. The TL;DR

• Mission: To provide a real-world learning experience, allowing interns to develop and apply key construction management skills while contributing to significant power generation projects.
• Tech Stack: SureTrak, Hard Dollar, Revit, SAP, Pro Log, Primavera “P6”, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Collaborate: Work with a diverse team on the construction, estimation, and scheduling of mechanical, electrical, and heavy industrial systems.
• Support: Assist administrative and construction activities, which may involve reviewing proposals/specifications, interpreting engineering drawings, and performing material takeoffs.
• Supervise: Learn to effectively supervise subcontractors and communicate professionally with vendors regarding project requirements.
• Assist: Help with the preparation of work plans, assuring quality control, managing and tracking costs and materials, and scheduling equipment.
• Administer: Aid in the administration of safety programs and maintain exceptional owner relations throughout project execution.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Broad knowledge and the ability to understand project scheduling and cost control principles; proficiency in reading and interpreting project owner specifications and engineering drawings; working knowledge and practical experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Candidates must be open to extensive travel and relocation as required by project needs across the United States.
• Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; good attention to detail with the ability to recognize and address discrepancies; a strong work ethic, highly motivated and willing to go the extra mile to ensure tasks are completed correctly; the ability to work effectively both independently and as a valued member of a team.
• Bonus: Familiarity with industry-specific software such as SureTrak, Hard Dollar, Revit, SAP, Pro Log, and/or Primavera “P6”; knowledge of construction safety principles and current federal & OSHA requirements.
