Intern, Partnerships
Join BDO as an Intern, Partnerships and embark on a rewarding journey where you’ll develop specialized knowledge in partnership taxation. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply your educational background while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic professional services environment. You will work alongside experienced team members, receiving guidance and coaching on a diverse range of partnership taxation issues, directly supporting BDO’s clients.
About the Role
As an Intern, Partnerships, you will significantly enhance your understanding of partnership taxation by actively participating in the preparation of various partnership-specific items. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with 704(b) and Taxable income allocations.
- Contributing to 704(b) and Tax Capital Account maintenance.
- Supporting liability analysis and allocations.
- Working on Tax Receivable Agreement calculations.
This role is designed to provide practical experience, allowing you to utilize your academic foundation while receiving invaluable direction from seasoned professionals. You will play a crucial role in supporting BDO’s clients, both directly and by assisting other client service teams.
Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance
- Ensure clients comply with all applicable authorities, simultaneously minimizing their tax and reporting burdens.
- Comply with all Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (“TQM”).
- Effectively use referencing systems and workpapers that directly tie to the tax return.
- Complete tasks and organize files to minimize rework by reviewers.
- Ensure all necessary data is collected to meet filing requirements.
- Proactively manage impending due dates.
- Assist in the projection of year-end filings.
Tax Consulting
- Assist in developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, particularly by decreasing clients’ current and future taxes.
- Operate online research tools to gather pertinent tax information.
- Monitor tax law and client factual developments on a regular basis (daily, weekly, or at least bi-weekly).
- Develop and communicate viewpoints regarding how tax developments might affect clients to client service team personnel.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting or Finance, required.
Experience
- Leadership experience, preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s)
- Actively pursuing school credits to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam, required.
Software
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, required.

Compensation
Individual salaries are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.
- California Range: $40.00/hr – $45.00/hr
- Colorado Range: $35.00/hr – $39.00/hr
- Illinois Range: $36.00/hr – $40.00/hr
- Maryland Range: $34.00/hr – $38.00/hr
- Massachusetts Range: $36.00/hr – $40.00/hr
- Minnesota Range: $32.00/hr – $36.00/hr
- New Jersey Range: $38.00/hr – $42.00/hr
- NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $36.00/hr – $40.00/hr
- Ohio Range: $33.00/hr – $37.00/hr
- Washington Range: $37.00/hr – $38.00/hr
- Washington DC Range: $34.00/hr – $38.00/hr
