Bar Associate – Carowinds

Hourly Rate: $10 / hour

In this dynamic role, you will be the heart of our bar experience, creating an atmosphere that is both welcoming and exciting for our guests. You will achieve this by taking immense pride in curating and offering a diverse, seasonally-inspired beverage menu, engaging in warm conversations, and providing helpful suggestions. When you shine, our guests will undoubtedly look forward to relaxing and unwinding with you after a long day.

Key Responsibilities & What You’ll Do

  • Craft a variety of drinks, pour beer & wine, and provide exceptional service to both corporate and leisure guests at the bar.
  • Skillfully tap beer kegs and serve draft beer, alongside a selection of bottled alcoholic beverages.
  • Take orders for and serve delicious bar bites prepared by our cook.
  • Vigilantly monitor and manage alcohol sales and consumption, ensuring strict adherence to NC Liquor Laws, including diligently checking proper identification for the minimum age requirement of 21 years for alcohol purchases.
  • Engage in some heavy lifting, which includes carrying beer kegs and cases to ensure a fully stocked bar.
  • Maintain the bar, preparation areas, and other assigned sections in a clean, orderly, and consistently well-stocked condition.
  • Accurately balance shift reports and cash drawers, and efficiently process credit card payments.
  • Answer general guest questions and provide valuable information about the property, the park, and the local area.
  • Perform essential pre and post-shift cleaning duties to ensure a pristine environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Demonstrate initiative and uphold the company’s strong reputation and unwavering dedication to safety, service, courtesy, cleanliness, and integrity.
  • Possess the ability to quickly learn and efficiently operate a Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
  • Capable of working collaboratively in a team setting while also being effective when working independently.
  • Available to work nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet fluctuating business needs.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check if 18 years of age or older, which may include but is not limited to credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references per company policy unless prohibited by federal, state or provincial law.
