Job Description

About Millennium Space Systems

Millennium Space Systems, a part of Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS), is a fast, agile small satellite company focused on national security space. Our missions have a direct impact on global security, including missile warning and Earth observation.

Our team is curious, bold, and innovative. We take risks, innovate, and explore new techniques and technologies. We influence change because we challenge the status quo. And when we watch our satellites launch, we know each one of us made it happen.

Spacecraft Electrical Systems Engineering Intern

As a Spacecraft Electrical Systems Engineering Intern, you will be an integral part of the Command and Data Handling (CDH) team. This dynamic role involves overseeing electrical interfaces through netlist management, driving vehicle architecture design to meet critical system requirements, and performing essential C&DH related analyses, such as data budget, signal integrity, and vehicle I/O allocation analyses. As part of this internship, you will contribute significantly to architecting Millennium’s next generation avionics systems.

Internship Experience & Responsibilities

Over the course of this 10-12 week internship, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Select Avionics and Onboard Processing Units: Choose components that effectively meet flight software (FSW) and data handling needs, while carefully balancing performance, power, mass, and cost considerations.
  • Develop C&DH Subsystem Architectures: Design C&DH subsystem architectures for Millennium’s space vehicles, making crucial system-level design decisions and ensuring alignment with overarching mission objectives and constraints.
  • Perform Data Budget Analysis: Conduct thorough data budget analyses to guarantee positive margins for telemetry, command, and onboard processing streams throughout the entire mission lifecycle.
  • Validate C&DH Architectures: Validate C&DH architectures against program fault management requirements, incorporating robust redundancy, watchdogs, and advanced error detection mechanisms.
