What You’ll Actually Do
• Support Database Operations: Assist with the administration and support of Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, and potentially PostgreSQL environments.
• Maintain Database Health: Perform routine maintenance tasks including backups, restores, monitoring, performance tuning, and health checks to ensure availability and reliability.
• Facilitate Modernization: Participate in database migrations from legacy platforms, support system modernization efforts, and gain exposure to Azure data services and DevOps workflows.
• Ensure Security & Compliance: Assist with user access provisioning, enforcement of least-privilege permissions, encryption configuration, vulnerability remediation, and evidence collection for audits.
• Collaborate and Document: Work closely with DevOps, development, and infrastructure teams, contribute to automation, and maintain system documentation and operational procedures.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience, with a working knowledge of relational databases.
• Experience: 1–3 years in IT operations, systems administration, application support, or database support, including familiarity with database backup, restore, and monitoring tools, and database security fundamentals.
• Skills: Basic SQL proficiency, strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills, and experience working with ticketing systems and IT service management processes in Windows or Linux server environments.
• Bonus: Exposure to Azure SQL or other cloud-based database platforms, exposure to PostgreSQL or interest in supporting open-source databases, basic understanding of data integration or ETL concepts, experience working in Agile or DevOps environments, or Microsoft, Azure, or database-related certifications.
