What You’ll Actually Do
• Inspect and Recondition: Conduct comprehensive cosmetic and final quality inspections on CarMax vehicles and perform vehicle cleaning, paint touch-up, wet sanding, and buffing according to company standards.
• Quality Assurance: Identify vehicle defects and determine appropriate repair methods to meet CarMax quality specifications.
• Team Collaboration: Actively participate in problem-solving, continuous improvement activities, and assist in training new associates under guidance.
• Operational Support: Maintain a clean and organized workplace in accordance with CarMax 5S standards, support auction operations, and assist with vehicle preparation and receiving.
• Customer Service & Movement: Safely drive vehicles on and off the lot and provide outstanding customer service when interacting with customers.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Foundational understanding of vehicle reconditioning processes, as demonstrated by accountability to the Associate 1 Competency Model.
• Experience: Proven ability to meet Reconditioning Associate and Reconditioning I Performance Standards, along with successful completion of Reconditioning Associate, Reconditioning Associate I, and Reconditioning Associate II Workstation Certifications.
• Skills: Accurately read, interpret, and transcribe data; efficiently perform multiple manual duties in a high-paced environment; effectively speak and listen to customers and associates; ability to lift objects weighing as much as 50 lbs; capability to complete CarMax-provided cross-training in all functional areas of the inventory process.
