The Tone:
This is a role at CarMax, located in St. Peters, Missouri. CarMax is a leading retailer in the used car market, focused on providing customers with a transparent and stress-free car buying and selling experience. This role is vital for maintaining the physical and digital presence of CarMax’s vehicle inventory. It ensures that every vehicle is properly managed from arrival to display, directly supporting the company’s operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

• Team: Reports to a Manager and works under the guidance of Inventory Associate IIs, and takes assignments from Flow Inventory Associate IVs.
• Mission: To maintain accurate vehicle inventory, facilitate efficient vehicle movement, and ensure vehicles are prepared and presented according to CarMax standards for optimal customer readiness.
• Tech Stack: Photo Station process, Workday Learnings, Inventory scanning tools (implied)

What You’ll Actually Do
• Manage Vehicle Logistics: Oversee the receiving and securing of incoming vehicles, as well as preparing vehicle and title packets for shipping to other CarMax locations. This includes driving vehicles on and off the lot for repairs, storage, or auction support as needed.
• Ensure Inventory Accuracy and Flow: Actively complete inventory scanning processes to maintain precise product status records and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the team. This role ensures the efficient flow of vehicles through various stages of the inventory lifecycle.
• Vehicle Presentation and Maintenance: Execute daily lot maintenance, safeguarding display areas and work-in-progress zones. Responsibilities extend to performing detailed vehicle cleaning, including washes and vacuums for customer returns, loaner vehicles, and front-lot merchandising.
• Digital Merchandising and Content: Perform the Photo Station process to capture and upload high-quality photographs of vehicles directly to carmax.com, playing a key role in the online presentation of inventory.
• Operational Adherence and Customer Service: Operate strictly according to defined work instructions and standardized work, ensuring a clean and organized workplace in line with CarMax 5S standards. Additionally, this role involves providing outstanding customer service to both internal CarMax teams and external customers.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Preferred qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent work experience.
• Experience: Possess a current driver’s license and meet CarMax’s established driving standards (DSEPS).
• Skills: Demonstrate the ability to accurately read, interpret, and transcribe data for record-keeping; capable of executing defined work instructions and standardized procedures; physically able to safely lift up to 50lbs.
• Bonus: Readiness to complete Inventory Associate Workstation Certifications and assigned Workday Learnings upon hire.
