The Tone:
This is a summer internship at Howmet Fastening Systems, located in Torrance, California. Howmet Fastening Systems, a division of Howmet Aerospace Inc., is a leading global provider of advanced engineered solutions for the aerospace and transportation industries, specializing in critical components like jet engine parts, aerospace fastening systems, titanium structural parts, and forged wheels. Our products play a crucial role in enabling fuel efficiency and lightweighting, contributing to our customers’ success and advancing sustainability. This 10-12 week structured program offers hands-on training designed to provide invaluable experience through projects specifically selected to add direct value to the business. Interns will gain an experience applicable to various roles, with Howmet Aerospace aiming to evaluate participants for potential entry-level openings upon completion.

The TL;DR

• Team: Reports directly to the site’s Finance Manager, with daily coaching from the team
• Mission: Contribute to financial data accuracy by inventorying and documenting fixed assets within the plant.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams

What You’ll Actually Do
• Fixed Asset Inventory: Locate and meticulously photograph all fixed assets present within the plant.
• Data Management: Upload the collected fixed asset information into designated corporate forms for seamless integration into the central fixed asset database.
• Business Contribution: Execute projects specifically selected to add direct, measurable value to the business operations.
• Professional Engagement: Actively participate in plant tours, seminars, and networking events to broaden industry knowledge and connections.
• Project Presentation: Articulate and present findings and outcomes of assigned projects to plant managers, supervisors, and mentors.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Enrollment in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program from an accredited institution, with a minimum completion of sophomore-level coursework. Preferred fields of study include Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Mathematics.
• Experience: Proficiency in working within a Microsoft systems environment, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite applications. Prior internship work experience is preferred.
• Skills: Required proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent analytical capabilities are essential.
• Bonus: Basic programming knowledge is recommended.
