Early Career Civil/Geotechnical Engineer | WSP

• Pay: $58200–$87300 yearly
• Team: US Mine Waste Team
• Mission: This person contributes to various projects for the mining industry, with potential involvement in other sectors, by performing engineering tasks, technical documentation, and field assignments.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Engineering: Perform site and material characterization, facility design (including grading, storage capacity, and construction quantity evaluations), and various analyses such as slope stability, seepage, consolidation, liner system, and settlement analyses.
• Surface Water Management: Design and analyze surface water management facilities.
• Documentation: Prepare portions of technical reports detailing field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and facility designs, and assist with project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, engineering calculations, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Field Work: Perform domestic and international field assignments, which may include geotechnical investigations and construction monitoring, while complying with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.
• Ethics & Safety: Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct, and upholding workplace safety.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, qualifying for an Early Career role.
• Experience: 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience, with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or the ability to complete it within 6 months of the start date.
• Skills: Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset, competent interpersonal and communication skills for diverse audiences, proficient self-leadership, attention to detail, multi-tasking abilities, and prioritization skills.
• Bonus: Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification, Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical engineering, prior internship experience related to the degree and specific engineering discipline, and/or active participation in local professional practice organizations.
