GSI Environmental Inc. – Full-Time Intern (Summer 2026)

GSI Environmental Inc. is seeking highly motivated and talented full-time interns to join our team in Helena, MT for Summer 2026. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience supporting a diverse range of domestic and international environmental and engineering projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct Project Support: Report directly to a dedicated Project Manager/Mentor and provide essential support to experienced engineers and geoscientists on a variety of environmental consulting projects. This includes involvement in site investigation and remediation, complex litigation support cases, and regulatory permitting processes.
  • Research and Development: Contribute to ongoing research projects aimed at supporting existing company initiatives or expanding GSI’s service offerings and technical capabilities.
  • Data Management and Evaluation: Accurately enter, meticulously check, and critically evaluate laboratory data for environmental samples. Compile clear and concise data summary tables to facilitate project analysis.
  • Field Experience (If Possible): Participate in valuable field trips to observe operational groundwater remediation systems, conduct groundwater monitoring at existing wells, and witness the installation of soil borings and/or wells.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform thorough quality assurance checks on maps, tables, calculations, and reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with professional standards.
  • Technical Calculations: Complete basic engineering and statistical calculations essential for project analysis and reporting.
  • Project Engagement: Attend project meetings with GSI staff, actively participating in technical discussions regarding tasks, schedules, and project strategies.
  • End-of-Internship Presentation: Present findings and insights from your research and project contributions to co-workers at the conclusion of the internship program, showcasing your learned skills and contributions.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background (Required): Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Geophysics, or a closely related field.
  • Availability (Required): Ability to work full-time in the office for a duration of 8 to 12 weeks during the period of June 2026 through August 2026. (Start and end dates are flexible to accommodate academic schedules).
  • Attention to Detail & Organization (Required): Possess exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills, coupled with a fundamental understanding of data quality control concepts.
  • Self-Motivation & Learning (Required): Demonstrate a strong self-motivation to learn new software applications and adapt to new workflows with minimal guidance.
  • Team & Independent Work (Required): Proven ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment to successfully meet project needs.
  • Time Management (Required): Exhibit strong time-management skills and schedule flexibility to efficiently accommodate multiple project deadlines and deliverables.
  • Environmental Data & Statistics (Preferred): Familiarity with environmental analytical data and a foundational knowledge of basic statistical analyses.
