IT Specialist Junior | Leidos

The Tone:
This is an early career IT position at Leidos, located in Camp Lejeune, NC. Leidos is an industry and technology leader delivering smarter, more efficient digital and mission innovations for government and commercial customers. This role is integral to the Service Management, Integration, and Transport (SMIT) program, the largest IT services initiative for the U.S. Navy, contributing to the core backbone of the Navy-Marine Corps Intranet and unifying shore-based networks.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Resolve Customer Issues: Evaluate and resolve customer Information System (IS) problems to maintain operational efficiency.
• Maintain Hardware: Effect required hardware upgrades and repairs to ensure mission capability and system longevity.
• Configure Networks: Install and configure wireless hubs, routers, switches, and various transmission media for network infrastructure.
• Manage Servers: Set up server hardware and software, specifically involving Microsoft (MS) server and Defense Message Systems (DMS) environments.
• Support Workstations: Ensure the proper installation and configuration of workstation hardware and software for efficient network operation.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career IT professional with a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
• Experience: 2 years of relevant experience installing, configuring, servicing, repairing, and maintaining Information Technology (IT) systems.
• Skills: Proficiency in networking protocols including Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP), Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), and Network Address Translation (NAT). Holds a CompTIA Security+ certification and a Microsoft Associate Level certification.
