Job Description

Job Title: Intern, Partnerships

As an Intern, Partnerships at BDO, you will embark on a valuable journey to develop your expertise in partnership taxation. This role offers hands-on experience by assisting in the preparation of various partnership-specific items, including but not limited to 704(b) and Taxable income allocations, 704(b) and Tax Capital Account maintenance, liability analysis and allocations, and Tax Receivable Agreement calculations.

You will have the unique opportunity to apply your educational background in a practical setting, working closely with seasoned team members who will provide expert direction and coaching across a spectrum of complex partnership taxation issues. As a integral part of our team, you will contribute to supporting BDO’s diverse clientele, both directly and through collaboration with other BDO client service teams.

Job Duties

Tax Compliance

  • Ensure clients adhere to all applicable tax authorities while strategically minimizing their tax and reporting burdens.
  • Guarantee self and client service teams comply with all Firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (“TQM”).
  • Effectively utilize referencing systems and maintain workpapers that directly tie to tax returns.
  • Complete tasks efficiently and organize files meticulously to minimize rework for reviewers.
  • Ensure all necessary data is collected to meet filing requirements.
  • Proactively manage impending due dates and take initiative.
  • Assist in the projection of year-end filings for clients.

Tax Consulting

  • Assist in the development, recommendation, and implementation of efficient and effective methods aimed at maximizing client benefits, specifically by decreasing current and future tax liabilities.
  • Utilize online research tools to gather pertinent tax information and insights.
  • Monitor tax law and client factual developments on a regular basis (daily, weekly, or at least bi-weekly).
  • Develop and communicate informed viewpoints to client service team personnel regarding how new developments might affect clients.
  • Perform other duties as required to support client service and team objectives.

Qualifications

Education

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Accounting or Finance, required.

Experience

  • Leadership experience, preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s)

  • Actively pursuing school credits to be eligible to sit for the CPA exam, required.

Software Proficiency

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, required.

Compensation

Individual salaries offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. Below are the typical hourly ranges for this position in various regions:

  • California Range: $40.00/hr – $45.00/hr
  • Colorado Range: $35.00/hr – $39.00/hr
  • Illinois Range: $36.00/hr – $40.00/hr
  • Maryland Range: $34.00/hr – $38.00/hr
  • Massachusetts Range: $36.00/hr – $40.00/hr
  • Minnesota Range: $32.00/hr – $36.00/hr
  • New Jersey Range: $38.00/hr – $42.00/hr
  • NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $36.00/hr – $40.00/hr
  • Ohio Range: $33.00/hr – $37.00/hr
  • Washington Range: $37.00/hr – $38.00/hr
  • Washington DC Range: $34.00/hr – $38.00/hr
