Early Career Civil/Geotechnical Engineer | WSP

The Tone:
This is a Full-Time Early Career Civil/Geotechnical Engineer position at WSP, located in Reno, NV, Elko, NV, or Costa Mesa, CA. WSP is a global engineering and professional services firm dedicated to designing lasting solutions in the buildings, transportation, energy, water, and environment markets. This role contributes to challenging mining, heavy civil, and geotechnical projects, helping WSP solve complex client challenges as part of a growing organization. Your daily contributions will be essential in meeting client objectives and goals.

• Pay: $58,200–$87,300 yearly (California Only)

• Mission: Solve client challenges in the mining industry by working on civil and geotechnical engineering projects.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Engineering Tasks: Perform various engineering tasks including site and material characterization, facility design, and detailed geotechnical analyses like slope stability and seepage.
• Report Preparation: Prepare portions of technical reports that document field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and facility designs.
• Design Package Assistance: Assist with the preparation of comprehensive project design packages, which include technical drawings, specifications, engineering calculations, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Field Assignments: Perform domestic and international field assignments, which may include conducting geotechnical investigations and monitoring construction activities.
• Documentation and Safety: Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using various electronic systems and field logs, while complying with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, or a closely related discipline, for an early career role.
• Experience: 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience, with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or the ability to complete it within 6 months of the start date.
• Skills: Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset, competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with diverse audiences, and proficient self-leadership with attention to detail and prioritization in a dynamic work environment.
• Bonus: Engineer in Training Certification, a Master’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical engineering, prior internship experience relevant to the discipline, and active participation in local professional practice organizations.
