The Tone:
This is an in-person internship within the Investments department. This role is designed to introduce individuals to the foundational aspects of the securities industry, focusing on crucial terminology, market structures, and regulatory frameworks. The intern will gain essential knowledge and skills, directly preparing them to successfully pass the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) Examination/Insurance by July 2026. This position offers a unique opportunity to build a solid understanding of market functions and compliance requirements from the ground up.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Understand Regulatory Bodies: Develop a comprehensive understanding of regulatory entities such as the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and Self-regulatory Organizations like CBOE, FINRA, and MSRB, including their jurisdiction and authority.
• Learn Market Dynamics: Shadow professionals to learn about different types of markets, the various participants involved, and their specific roles within the financial ecosystem.
• Analyze Economic Factors: Study the impact of key economic factors, including the influence of The Federal Reserve Board on business activity and market stability, alongside broader business and international economic trends.
• Explore Offerings and Products: Shadow to understand the roles of offering participants, various types of offerings, registration processes, required documentation, and associated product risks.
• Master Regulatory Compliance: Build a knowledge base of comprehensive regulatory frameworks, including specific rules from FINRA, CBOE, MSRB, SEC, as well as federal acts like the USA Patriot Act.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career, Internship. High school or GED equivalent, complemented by specialized schooling or on-the-job training in a specific skill area, with a focus on learning basic knowledge of the securities industry.
• Experience: 0-6 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Skills:
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to read and understand simple instructions, routine reports, and write basic correspondence.
• Foundational mathematical skills, capable of calculating figures such as discounts, interest, percentages, and applying concepts like fractions and ratios.
• Critical thinking abilities to interpret detailed written or oral instructions and resolve routine problems involving a few known variables.
• Proficiency in intermediate software like Presentation/PowerPoint, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing, with basic skills in Accounting and Alphanumeric Data Entry.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to work effectively in a team environment, managing project workflows and prioritizing tasks.
