The Tone:
This is an internship at IMI plc, located on-site. This role at IMI Adaptas is crucial for ensuring reliable, high-quality manufacturing of electron multipliers and filaments for mass spectrometry components, which are essential for various analytical instruments. The intern will contribute to solving complex engineering challenges and help create solutions the world depends on.

• Mission: Support and improve the production of high-quality mass spectrometry components through continuous improvement and process optimization initiatives.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Support: Support continuous improvement projects focused on yield improvement, scrap reduction, and process stability on electron multiplier and filament production lines.
• Monitoring Development: Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to develop and implement monitoring methods and metrics, such as cleanroom or equipment health indicators.
• Automation & Reporting: Help automate data collection, reporting, and visualization processes utilizing tools like Excel or basic scripting.
• Production Support: Provide daily production assistance by gathering data, troubleshooting minor issues, and communicating observations to the engineering team.
• Process Implementation: Support the implementation of new manufacturing processes, including verification, operator training, and conducting follow-up assessments.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), including comfort with creating Pivot tables in Excel. Strong interest in project management and process development.
• Skills: Detail-oriented with strong analytical thinking, excellent organizational and time-management skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently and within a team.
• Bonus: Experience with CAD, 3D printing, and familiarity with Python or C++ / PLC Programming, along with an understanding of sensors, serial communication, data logging, and formatting.
