Business Support Intern | Lowes Foods
The Tone:
This is an internship at Lowes Foods, a company focused on providing a superior grocery experience to its guests. As an intern in Business Support, you will contribute to the vital facility management functions for all grocery stores. This role matters by directly supporting store teams through efficient construction and maintenance operations, ensuring an optimal environment for both employees and customers. You will work on exciting and challenging projects that directly impact the company’s daily operations and long-term efficiency.
The TL;DR

• Location: Winston-Salem, NC (In-person)
• Team: Business Support, collaborating with Construction and Maintenance
• Mission: Improve operational processes and reporting within facility management to identify cost savings and process efficiencies.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), CAD (preferred)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Process Optimization: Map current construction activities from inception to planning and execution, providing recommendations for improved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and inter-departmental communication.
• Facility Analysis: Identify opportunities for cost savings and process efficiencies, such as optimizing refrigerated and frozen space or analyzing equipment breakdowns for proactive replacement and inventory management.
• Project Support: Learn the end-to-end construction process for remodels and new builds, assisting with project design, estimation, approval, and management, including occasional ride-alongs with a Project Manager.
• Design & Archiving: Partner with the Kj’s merchant team to finalize salesfloor merchandise fixture designs, catalogue supplier choices, and update the archive of engineering and architectural plans for all stores.
• Software Implementation: Provide support for the rollout of a new maintenance software program across all store locations, contributing to improved operational uptime and data management.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career professional or student with an interest in Architecture, Engineering, or Project Management.
• Experience: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Skills: Excellent writing and communication skills to clearly articulate findings and recommendations.
• Bonus: Experience with CAD or similar design software is preferred.
