Student Field & Laboratory Testing Technician | Terracon

The position is crucial for ensuring the quality and compliance of materials used in construction projects and provides a foundational understanding of materials science and engineering practices.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Conduct Testing: Perform field and laboratory testing of concrete, soil, asphalt, and aggregates, adhering to established protocols and safety guidelines.
• Provide Assistance: Support other field and/or laboratory personnel on routine tasks, fostering a collaborative work environment.
• Manage Logistics: Transport equipment, specimens, or documents to various locations, including field personnel, the laboratory, clients, or other offices, ensuring timely and efficient operations.
• Prepare Equipment: Provide physical assistance in the setup of equipment, contributing to the preparation and execution of testing procedures.
• Maintain Workspace: Clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas to ensure a safe and organized environment.
The Must-Haves
• Background: High school diploma and currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a science or related field such as environmental, safety, engineering, chemistry, biology, or geology.
• Experience: Less than one year remaining to complete a BS degree.
• Skills: Adherence to established testing protocols and safety guidelines; aptitude for learning and performing various material sampling and testing procedures; physical capacity for equipment setup and transport.
