Salary & Compensation

The starting salary for this teaching position is $48,700. Additionally, referendum money is available for the next four years, beginning with $7,730 for the 2025-2026 school year. Teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement amount based on their date of hire.

Job Summary

The Teacher guides the learning process towards the achievement of curriculum goals, in harmony with the District’s educational philosophy and objectives. This role involves establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and effectively communicating these objectives to students. The teacher will employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the available resources and the diverse needs and capabilities of individual students and groups.

Essential Functions

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the designated locations and at specified times.
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, addresses the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students. Prepares for assigned classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon request from the immediate superior.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Supervises students to protect them from conditions harmful to learning, mental and/or physical health, and/or safety. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports as required. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as mandated by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Diagnoses student learning disabilities on a regular basis, seeking assistance from District specialists as required.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct. For the classroom, develops reasonable rules of behavior and procedure, and maintains order in a fair and just manner. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Makes provisions to be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) and, in cooperation with department heads, evaluates their job performance.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: None required.
  • Certifications & Licenses: Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in the appropriate subject area.

  • Knowledge of subject content.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
  • Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading papers, preparation of lesson plans, etc.
  • Ability to manage students effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
