Job Summary
Georgia Southwestern State University’s College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CONHS) is actively seeking a highly qualified and passionate tenure-track Assistant Professor for its Graduate Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program. This is a 12-month contract position, designed to support the fully online, asynchronous Graduate Nursing Program. The ideal candidate will excel in a virtual learning environment while also committing to an on-campus presence at least three days a week. This blend allows for the delivery of high-quality, student-centered education to future advanced practice nurses.
Responsibilities
- Teach and facilitate graduate-level nursing courses exclusively in an asynchronous online format.
- Develop and revise course content to ensure alignment with program outcomes and accreditation standards, while adhering to University, CONHS, and agency policies.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback and comprehensive academic support to graduate students.
- Actively participate in faculty meetings, various committees, and professional development initiatives.
- Contribute significantly to curriculum planning, program assessment, and accreditation efforts.
- Engage in scholarly activities and service relevant to the role and responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a Doctoral degree (DNP or PhD in Nursing or a related field).
- Current certification in an advanced practice role (e.g., Family Nurse Practitioner – FNP).
- An unencumbered Georgia Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Demonstrated experience teaching in an online or distance education format.
- Proficiency with various learning management systems (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard, D2L).
- Strong written communication and excellent organizational skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of classroom practices, diverse teaching methodologies, assessment systems, and educational technology.
- Exceptional skill in both oral and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience with asynchronous course design and delivery.
- Familiarity with effective online student engagement strategies and advanced assessment tools.
- A record of scholarly activity or a demonstrated interest in research and publication.
