Manufacturing Engineer | Pratt Miller, An Oshkosh Company

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Pratt Miller, An Oshkosh Company, located within the U.S. Pratt Miller is a product development company specializing in motorsports, defense, and mobility, providing engineering and low-volume production solutions. This role is crucial for successfully launching products that meet customer requirements, by applying creative problem-solving and extensive Lean Manufacturing knowledge in a low-rate production environment. The Manufacturing Engineer directly contributes to bringing high-quality products to market faster.

What You’ll Actually Do
• New Product Production Planning: Lead the development of process flow, PFMEA, error/mistake proofing, equipment planning, capacity analysis, plant layout, total productive maintenance (TPM), and operator work instructions.
• Fixture Design & Equipment Selection: Design assembly fixtures utilizing advanced manufacturing technologies such as PLC and DC torque tools, and evaluate/select required production equipment.
• Production Support & Issue Resolution: Work with cross-functional teams to solve customer issues related to quality and delivery, tracking metrics to drive product and process changes.
• Continuous Improvement: Use continuous improvement techniques to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost across production processes.
• Advanced Manufacturing Research: Research and evaluate new advanced manufacturing technologies and assist in defining the roadmap for manufacturing capability growth.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or another engineering degree with manufacturing experience.
• Experience: 1+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering, along with full vehicle manufacturing and assembly experience.
• Skills: Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, strong problem-solving and attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook).
• Bonus: Vehicle and system troubleshooting experience, knowledge of the automotive or defense industries, experience with an OEM or Tier 1 Automotive Supplier, familiarity with a wide variety of processes (assembly, fabrication, machining), experience implementing programmable logic control systems, contribution to evaluating and quoting new production opportunities, and experience using 3D CAD programs such as Solidworks or Creo.
