The Tone:
This is an internship at American Rheinmetall, located in Auburn Hills, MI, with occasional support at the Plymouth, MI office. American Rheinmetall is a leader in designing, developing, and producing advanced tracked and wheeled vehicles, vehicle systems, and critical components that support U.S. military modernization efforts. The company delivers reliable innovation to defense and commercial markets, spanning expertise in electronic and mechanical systems, fabricated structures, armored products, rubber solutions, and track systems. This Manufacturing Engineering Intern role is crucial for supporting our manufacturing and operations teams, specifically by driving process improvement initiatives, enhancing assembly operations, and meticulously managing manufacturing documentation. It offers hands-on experience in optimizing production processes and maintaining critical manufacturing records within a defense technology environment.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Process Optimization: Support process improvement initiatives and optimize assembly operations to enhance production efficiency.
• Documentation Management: Develop, maintain, and continuously improve vital manufacturing documentation, including detailed work instructions and accurate Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Project Coordination: Assist in coordinating complex cross-departmental projects and facilitate the implementation of new manufacturing processes.
• Data Analysis: Analyze comprehensive production data to identify trends and provide actionable insights aimed at enhancing overall efficiency and safety.
• Best Practices Implementation: Collaborate closely with various engineering teams to implement industry best practices in production and process development.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career. Candidates must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from an accredited four-year college or university. A High School Diploma or GED is also required.
• Experience: Demonstrated experience of one to two years in a related field and/or training is expected, or an equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to manufacturing engineering support.
• Skills: Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills for identifying issues and proposing solutions. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaborating with teams and documenting processes. Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational ability for managing critical manufacturing documentation. A genuine willingness to learn and adapt within an engineering and manufacturing setting.
