Intern – TIAA Summer Program
Embark on an intensive 10-week summer journey with TIAA, designed to provide participants with unparalleled professional development and hands-on experience in the financial services industry. This program is your opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects, explore diverse career pathways, and build comprehensive industry expertise.
Program Overview
Throughout this immersive summer program, you will engage in a structured professional development curriculum featuring:
- Comprehensive training modules: Gain foundational knowledge and practical skills essential for a career in financial services.
- Executive speaker series: Learn from senior leaders and gain insights into the industry and TIAA’s strategic vision.
- Educational workshops: Participate in interactive sessions designed to enhance your professional capabilities.
- Mentorship programs: Connect with experienced professionals who will guide your development and career exploration.
- Cohort-based learning experiences: Collaborate with a peer group, fostering teamwork and shared learning.
Summer interns will work on an exciting mix of strategically-aligned, challenging assignments and projects that directly support TIAA’s mission. Managers and colleagues will provide side-by-side guidance, ensuring your development and learning. Candidates can expect to gain a deep understanding of TIAA and the Financial Services industry, with opportunities to explore various aspects of our client-facing business.
Successful summer interns will be considered for a full-time position in the highly competitive Retirement & Wealth Rotational Program upon graduation. Additionally, rising seniors will have the opportunity to participate in the Security Industry Essentials (SIE) prep program, providing a chance to take the SIE exam at the end of the program.

Key Roles and Duties
- Support High-Impact Initiatives: Contribute to meaningful projects that directly support business objectives and client outcomes.
- Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate on strategic presentations and research projects, contributing to PowerPoint and Excel deliverables and analytical materials that inform key business decision-making.
- Project Coordination: Support a variety of projects by helping to coordinate project materials and meetings to ensure seamless information flow across teams.
- Independent Research: Drive independent research initiatives to gather market intelligence, competitive analysis, and supporting documentation that advances business objectives.
- Professional Development Immersion: Immerse yourself in professional development opportunities through exclusive access to executive speaker series, specialized training programs, and networking events designed to accelerate your career trajectory.
- Career Pathway Exploration: Explore diverse career pathways by working alongside professionals across multiple departments and gaining hands-on experience in various business functions.
- Industry Expertise Building: Build comprehensive industry expertise while developing deep knowledge of TIAA’s culture, values, and position within the financial services landscape.
Specific Program Tracks
Interns will be assigned developmental roles in an area of Retirement Solutions or Wealth Management:
Retirement Solutions
- Retirement Solutions Distribution Teams (Sales, Institutional Relationship Management, Retirement Advice & Consulting): Support teams responsible for delivering best-in-class, end-to-end Retirement Experiences to our clients, ensuring exceptional outcomes for institutions, consultants, and individual participants.
- Retirement Solutions Chief Operating Office (COO): Support the COO team with responsibilities including operational functions, enhancing & optimizing processes, skills, acumen, and tools & ensuring efficient workflows. This organization includes teams such as Recordkeeping Strategy & Transformation, Retirement Business Controls, Retirement Sales Enablement, Client Transitions, and Communication & Engagement Services.
- Retirement Solutions Chief Administrative Office (CAO): Support the CAO team with responsibilities for the management of the Retirement Solutions strategic planning & administrative functions, supporting the Retirement Solutions CEO, and enabling performance & productivity while fostering a positive organizational culture. This organization includes teams such as Chief of Staff, Business Management, Retirement Strategy & Execution, TIAA Retirement Advice & Consulting (TRAC) Strategy & Consultant Support, and Retirement Solutions CEP Support.
Wealth Management
- Wealth Distribution: Support the client-facing, sales enablement, and business management teams within the Wealth Distribution organization.
- Wealth Chief Operating Office: Support one of several functions in Wealth Management, including: Products and Solutions, Operations and Services (including the Trust business), Regulatory Supervision and Oversight, Strategy and Business Enablement, as well as the Chief Investment Office for managed accounts.
Educational Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
Additional Requirements
- Expected Graduation date between December 2026 – June 2028.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0.

Compensation
Base Pay Range: $22.00/hr – $30.00/hr
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
