Organizing Intern | Office of Supervisor Lawson-Remer
The Tone:
This is an internship at the Office of Supervisor Lawson-Remer, located in San Diego, CA. The comprehensive Student Internship Program is designed to offer students a unique and impactful experience, enabling close collaboration with community partners. Interns will play a pivotal role in advancing a critical economic justice and pro-environmental agenda for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, fostering civic engagement and responsibility in future leaders. This position is vital for amplifying the core policies of Team Terra and helping to execute programs and events that drive the Supervisor’s key initiatives across District 3.

• Team: Reports directly to the Organizing Director.
• Mission: Advance the Supervisor’s agenda through community engagement, event coordination, and policy advocacy.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Representation: Attend community meetings and public events to effectively represent and speak on behalf of the County Supervisor and their initiatives.
• Engagement: Actively participate in various community events and meetings to engage directly with partners on key policy areas that are central to the Supervisor’s agenda.
• Event Coordination: Assist in the comprehensive organization and execution of diverse community events, covering important topics such as environmental protection, immigration rights, workers’ rights, and smart justice reforms.
• Outreach Strategy: Collaborate closely with team members to develop and implement effective outreach strategies designed to connect with and inform diverse communities across the district.
• Administrative Support: Systematically gather data for multiple tracking systems and provide essential administrative assistance to ensure smooth office operations.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Minimum qualification: Full-time student at a vocational program, job readiness program, or an accredited college or university with at least a 2.0 semester/quarter GPA. Must have an interest in elevating a transformative agenda at the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
• Experience: No specific years of experience are required.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal skills; an outgoing, reliable, and dynamic personality; demonstrated problem-solving abilities; excellent team player.
• Bonus: Experience in community organizing, grassroots organizations, casework, customer care, or communications. Bilingual speaking and writing skills are welcome.
