About The Role: Accounting Intern
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our team. This program offers a unique opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience across multiple areas of accounting, specifically designed for college students aspiring to pursue a career in the field. Key Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities:
As an Accounting Intern, you will gain practical experience assisting with a range of crucial accounting functions, including:
- Full Accounting Cycle for a Smaller Entity: Take primary accounting ownership of a smaller company entity, providing a comprehensive understanding of the entire accounting cycle. This includes:
- Managing the amortization of prepaid assets.
- Executing monthly expense accruals.
- Performing accurate bank reconciliations.
- Conducting other essential account reconciliations.
- Investigating and analyzing actual financial amounts compared to budget.
- Software Proficiency: Learn to navigate and operate within the Company’s essential accounting software systems, such as JD Edwards, Blackline, Concur, and Excel, to efficiently record, research, and analyze financial data and transactions.
- Research and Support: Research and assist with non-transactional move-outs, contributing to the smooth flow of operations.
- Cash Receipts Management: Analyze and accurately process daily cash receipts.
- Abatements and Payments: Apply monthly abatements and process payments for the subsequent month.
- General Departmental Support: Provide general support and assistance with additional ad-hoc tasks, ensuring the overall smooth and efficient operation of the accounting department.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Possess strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with the utmost professionalism and discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with HR systems is a plus.
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
