Finance Analyst Intern – Power Market (Summer 2027) | Kiewit
The Tone:
This is a Full Time Temporary internship at Kiewit, with project locations spanning across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, requiring frequent relocation. Kiewit is a major construction and engineering organization responsible for improving and connecting communities through large-scale projects, including power generation, solar fields, and wind farms. This role is vital for supporting the business management of projects ranging from $1 million to $4 billion, focusing on key forecasting and accounting practices to ensure operational success and compliance.

• Team: Operational Finance Department, reporting to project management
• Mission: Support project business management by executing critical accounting and finance functions to ensure operational efficiency and accurate financial reporting.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Support: Adapt to project needs and actively assist in various operational areas to support overall business management.
• Payroll & HR Management: Understand payroll and human resources process workflows, mastering systems for hiring, transferring, terminating, and paying employees.
• Financial Transactions: Comprehend goods purchasing, invoice receipt and payment, and maintain internal controls within the purchasing workflow.
• Billing & Cash Flow: Understand intercompany and client billing processes, emphasizing timely and accurate documentation for effective cash management.
• Financial Reporting: Review costs, quantity claiming, budget structure, and exception reports, making corrections to ensure accurate reporting for project management.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, Business Management, or an equivalent degree.
• Experience: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Skills: Effective communication (both oral and written), strong organization, attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Bonus: Experience working with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other key Excel functions. Ability to relocate anywhere in the country and willingness to travel up to 50%.
