About the Job: Starbucks Lead Barista
A Starbucks Lead Barista plays a pivotal role in supporting store leadership by ensuring smooth daily operations, maintaining high standards for beverage preparation, and consistently delivering exceptional customer service. This position requires a blend of hands-on operational expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a genuine passion for creating a welcoming environment for both guests and team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service Excellence:
- Model and adhere to the established customer service commitment, which includes smiling, offering friendly greetings, learning guests’ names and orders, assuming the best in others, and expressing gratitude.
- Actively seek opportunities to recognize, include, appreciate, support, and delight guests.
- Utilize operational tools and training to enhance coffee and product knowledge, assisting guests in finding their preferred items.
- Stay informed about relevant events and offers to connect guests with current promotions.
- Operational Execution & Cash Handling:
- Accurately process customer orders and adhere to all proper cash handling procedures.
- Maintain composure and efficiency during periods of high volume or unexpected events.
- Follow all Starbucks and Peachtree operational policies and procedures, including those related to cash handling, safety, and security.
- Ensure a clean, organized, and safe workspace in compliance with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
- Execute store operations effectively during scheduled shifts, including organizing opening and closing duties.
- Oversee proper cash management practices by the shift team, ensuring adherence to all policies.
- Product Quality & Consistency:
- Consistently prepare and provide high-quality beverages and food products by strictly adhering to all recipe and presentation standards.
- Maintain and enforce health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products and equipment.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
- Assist with training new team members.
- Provide constructive feedback to the store manager regarding team performance during shifts.
- Foster a positive learning environment through clear, specific, timely, and respectful coaching and feedback to team members on shift, aiming for operational excellence and improved team performance.
- Cultivate positive relationships with team members by understanding and addressing their individual motivations, needs, and concerns.
- Follow up with baristas during the shift to ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service to all guests.
- Recognize and reinforce individual and team accomplishments using organizational tools and by collaborating with the store manager to develop new, creative, and effective recognition methods.
- Utilize operational tools to achieve overall operational excellence during the shift.
- Attendance:
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Job Qualifications and Required Skills
- Experience:
- 1 year of customer service experience in a hospitality or restaurant environment.
- Six (6) months of experience in a role requiring constant interaction with and fulfillment of customer requests.
- At least six (6) months of experience delegating tasks to other employees and/or coordinating the tasks of two (2) or more employees.
- Availability:
- Ability to work flexible hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
- Operational Proficiency:
- Meet store operating policies and standards.
- Ability to prepare and coach others in the preparation of food and beverages to standard recipes or customized for customers (including recipe changes such as temperature, quantity of ingredients, or substituted ingredients).
- Knowledge of the restaurant and hospitality environment.
- Ability to learn quickly.
