Marketing/Proposal Intern | Kiewit
The Tone:
This is an internship at Kiewit, located in Lenexa, KS. Kiewit operates in the industrial market, specifically supporting the Energy business through its business development efforts. This role provides an opportunity to gain strategic insight into Kiewit’s business development processes and acquire marketing and proposal management skills. The internship program is taken seriously, with the intent to hire graduates who meet expectations as a result of their participation.

• Team: Markets & Strategy (M&S) team within the KEG Business Development group.
• Mission: To support the Energy business’s marketing and proposal efforts, ensuring consistent outcomes from pursuit and market positioning.
• Tech Stack: MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint, Smartsheet, Adobe InDesign.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Develop: Create professional presentations, capabilities overviews, and social media posts.
• Research: Investigate company project history and populate a centralized experience database.
• Assist: Help in reviewing, editing, and updating website content.
• Participate: Engage in various stages of the proposal development process.
• Maintain: Organize department filing systems and records using specified software.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Journalism, Business, or a related field.
• Experience: Demonstrated commitment to quality with attention to detail and consistency in work product, along with proficiency in MS Office Suite.
• Skills: Excellent communication, writing, time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills; dependable; energetic and outgoing personality with the ability to work in a team; positive attitude with a willingness to learn; ability to problem solve under tight time constraints; ability to professionally handle constructive criticism.
• Bonus: Technical writing skills preferred. Proficiency in SharePoint and Adobe InDesign preferred.
