Project Management Intern | Sound Transit
The Tone:
This is a temporary full-time internship at Sound Transit, located in Seattle, WA. Sound Transit is dedicated to planning, designing, and building a world-class transit system across the Puget Sound region. This role is crucial for completing significant contract closeout work for the Federal Way Link Extension, specifically focusing on a comprehensive program to mitigate noise impacts in adjacent communities. The intern will gain direct exposure to large-scale transit projects and equity-focused mitigation efforts in public infrastructure delivery.

• Mission: Mitigate noise impacts in communities adjacent to Sound Transit Light Rail facilities through the Residential Sound Insulation Program (RSIP).
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), PowerBI, SharePoint
What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Support: Assist with various project management tasks, including documentation, reporting, schedule tracking, and actively participate in team and consultant coordination meetings.
• Program Development: Support the analysis and ongoing development of the Residential Sound Insulation Program (RSIP) for the Federal Way Link Extension and other Sound Transit corridors.
• Data & Documentation: Build structured SharePoint document libraries, upload and catalog RSIP deliverables, and support the development of centralized technical references.
• Field & Community Engagement: Participate in RSIP acoustical field testing and residential assessments, track findings, and document homeowner communications and multilingual outreach.
• Reporting & KPIs: Contribute to the development of program Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and assist in creating annual performance summaries and Power BI dashboard updates.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Early Career: Current college student in good academic standing, enrolled in an accredited associate, bachelor’s, or graduate degree program in Construction Management, Business Administration, or another non-technical discipline, or possessing a relevant two-year certificate.
• Experience: No specific years required, but an understanding of project management principles and practices gained through academic coursework or prior experience.
• Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Bonus: Experience with PowerBI and SharePoint site page development.
