Cultivate Intern – Vendor Management | Shelter
The Tone:
This is an internship at Shelter, located in Columbia, MO. Shelter is an established company dedicated to serving its customers, particularly within the insurance and finance industries. This Cultivate Intern role is designed to provide comprehensive support for Shelter’s Vendor Management team. Through this position, you will contribute directly to ensuring vendor compliance, maintaining critical documentation, and streamlining essential business processes.

• Mission: Support vendor management operations by analyzing vendor performance, tracking compliance, and maintaining key documentation to ensure smooth business processes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Learn Shelter’s Business: Engage in various department functions and activities to understand Shelter-specific policies, procedures, and methods of conducting business.
• Gain Broad Exposure: Experience diverse facets of department activities, including potential travel to branch offices or agent-assigned job duties.
• Provide Departmental Support: Assist the department with regular work assignments and contribute to special projects as appropriate.
• Analyze Vendors & Compliance: Support vendor management efforts by actively analyzing vendors and tracking their compliance with established standards.
• Maintain Documentation & Processes: Help maintain critical vendor documentation and support essential operational processes.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Current, full-time college student at the sophomore or junior level, with continuous full-time enrollment planned for Fall 2026. This position is suitable for individuals seeking an early career opportunity, particularly those interested in the insurance and finance sectors.
• Experience: Ability to commit to 8-10 weeks of dedicated on-the-job training, focusing on Shelter-specific policies, procedures, and computer systems within the assigned department.
• Skills: Strong personal computer proficiency, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Demonstrated good communication and organizational skills. Ability to maintain a consistent work schedule and work effectively with others in both office and field settings. Essential availability to travel to the Home Office in Columbia, MO during the weeks of June 15th-19th and July 20th-24th.
