Operations Intern | American Rheinmetall
The Tone:
This is an internship at American Rheinmetall, located in Plymouth, MI. American Rheinmetall designs, develops, and produces advanced tracked and wheeled vehicles, vehicle systems, and critical components that support U.S. military modernization. This role offers hands-on experience in process improvement, safety practices, and metrics reporting, contributing to efficient operations that deliver reliable innovation to defense and commercial markets.
The TL;DR
• Role: Internship
• Location: In-person, Plymouth, MI
• Mission: To assist in tracking key performance metrics, evaluating downtime reduction, and supporting safety and organization initiatives to improve operational performance.
What You’ll Actually Do
• Metrics Reporting: Create and maintain tracking tools for month-over-month and year-over-year reporting metrics.
• Workplace Organization: Develop and support the launch of 5S audits and events to enhance workplace organization.
• Efficiency Improvement: Assess and identify opportunities to reduce operational downtime and improve process efficiency.
• Safety Engagement: Contribute to safety engagement initiatives that strengthen workplace safety culture.
• Performance Measurement: Help develop tools and strategies to measure and improve overall operational performance.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, with one to two years related experience and/or training. Strong foundational knowledge in 5S methodology and process improvement techniques, along with an interest in workplace safety initiatives.
• Experience: One to two years of related experience or training, demonstrating analytical skills to track and report key performance metrics, with a strong attention to detail for evaluating operational efficiencies.
• Skills: Analytical thinking for metrics reporting, 5S methodology application, process improvement techniques, keen attention to detail, cross-functional team collaboration.
• Bonus: Clear and effective written and verbal communication, experience researching topics, prior employment demonstrating teamwork.
