In this role, you will support students from diverse backgrounds in exploring library resources, developing research skills, and engaging with campus-wide programming.

Your creativity, curiosity, and energy will be instrumental in shaping outreach initiatives, student engagement, and research support for Duke’s vibrant undergraduate community. This is an opportunity to help build programs, create experiences, and design services that make students feel seen, supported, and inspired.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with Lilly Library staff to promote services, spaces, and collections through programming, tours, and exhibits.
  • Assist in planning and facilitating First-Year Library Advisory Board meetings.
  • Support communications by creating social media and blog content in partnership with the Communications and Social Media Coordinator.
  • Participate in Writing 120 library instruction for first-year students.
  • Serve as a Residence Hall Librarian, building connections with students where they live and learn.
  • Contribute to the Student Outreach Team by brainstorming and implementing programs that engage undergraduates.
  • Provide research assistance and circulation support at the Lilly service desk.
  • Assist users through Ask a Librarian via chat and email.
  • Support collection development through catalog searching, resource selection, and analysis projects.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Anticipated Pay Range:

Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $18.00 to USD $22.84. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
