The Tone:
This is a full-time role at Pratt Miller, An Oshkosh Company. Pratt Miller is a product development company focused on motorsports, defense, and mobility, providing clients with product engineering and low-volume production solutions. This role is crucial for successfully launching products that meet customer requirements by developing creative solutions and applying Lean Manufacturing techniques in a low-rate production environment. The Manufacturing Engineer directly contributes to bringing high-quality products to market faster through robust engineering and production processes.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Production Planning: Lead the development of comprehensive manufacturing processes, including flow, PFMEA, error-proofing, equipment, capacity, layout, and work instructions for new products.
• Fixture Design & Equipment Selection: Design advanced assembly fixtures utilizing technologies like PLC and DC torque tools, and evaluate and select necessary production equipment.
• Quality & Material Management: Assist in developing quality planning (control plans, gage designs) and material planning (flow, handling, inventory, safety stock) while collaborating with Design Engineers for assembly optimization.
• Continuous Improvement: Apply continuous improvement techniques to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost, tracking production metrics to drive process and product changes.
• Advanced Manufacturing Initiatives: Research and evaluate new advanced manufacturing technologies and contribute to defining the roadmap for manufacturing capability growth.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or another engineering discipline with relevant manufacturing experience.
• Experience: 1+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, including full vehicle manufacturing and assembly experience.
• Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing techniques, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook).
• Bonus: Vehicle and system troubleshooting experience, knowledge of automotive or defense industries, experience with an OEM or Tier 1 Automotive Supplier, familiarity with a wide variety of processes (assembly, fabrication, machining), experience with implementing programmable logic control systems, contribution to evaluating and quoting new production opportunities, and experience using 3D CAD programs such as Solidworks or Creo.
