About the Job
We are a sales and use tax consulting firm seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual for a full-time Junior Analyst position. This role is crucial to our refund recovery process, providing essential behind-the-scenes client support by identifying overpayments and “finding money” for our clients. There are no sales responsibilities involved in this position.
The work will initially focus primarily on data entry, serving as a foundational step. However, there is a significant opportunity for growth and development into a more advanced analysis role within the firm. We value a high level of attention to detail and a strong willingness to learn as you develop your skills, knowledge, and confidence in understanding relevant tax law and applying existing exemptions.
The refund recovery process involves 14 distinct steps, and as a Junior Analyst, you will be the primary stakeholder in 4 of these critical steps. Further details about these specific steps will be provided during the interview process.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Full-Time Commitment: Candidates must be able to commit to working 30+ hours per week.
- Location: The primary work location is our Norcross office.
- Flexibility: Additional work hours beyond the initial 30+ in-office hours can be completed remotely from your home, apartment, dorm, Starbucks, or any location you choose, allowing you to tailor your schedule.
Compensation
Hourly Rate: $17.50
Responsibilities
The primary function of the Junior Analyst is to assist the company in providing behind-the-scenes client support through the “finding money” aspect of the refund recovery process. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing skills, knowledge, and confidence to understand relevant tax law and how existing exemptions may apply to purchases being reviewed.
- Compiling data for sales and use tax overpayment reviews.
- Entering data into spreadsheets accurately and efficiently.
- Describing purchases and assigning them to appropriate categories based on tax law.
- Preparing various reports for management, as well as external and internal auditors.
- Typing and organizing information for refund filings.
- Analyzing invoices and data, utilizing both hard copies and web-based tools.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
