Entry Level Civil Engineer (Renewables) | WSP
The Tone:
This is an early career position at WSP, located primarily in Cincinnati, OH, with other locations considered across Ohio, Indiana, Texas, and Nevada. This role is crucial for supporting renewable energy site development projects, contributing to WSP’s vision to be the preeminent pure-play global consulting firm for the world’s energy transition. • Pay: $83200–$95000 yearly
• Team: Site Development Civil Team – Renewable Energy, within Power & Energy projects.
• Mission: To support the development, design, and permitting of renewable energy and behind-the-meter generation facilities.
• Tech Stack: AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D/LDD
What You’ll Actually Do
• Project Support: Support renewable energy site development projects with an emphasis on Solar, Wind, and BESS facilities, along with behind-the-meter generation for commercial and industrial clients.
• Data Analysis: Perform and develop methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing various data types including physical work site data, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, and hydrologic and geotechnical information for project development, design, and construction.
• Design & Permitting: Support the development of civil, erosion and sediment control, drainage/stormwater, and utility designs, and assist in preparing permit application documents, engineering design plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates.
• Site Inspection & Coordination: Perform professional civil engineering work, conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, and coordinate with clients and governmental agencies to fulfill project needs and acquire necessary permits or approvals.
• Professional Development & Conduct: Support guidance and training to entry-level engineers, remain current in the latest civil engineering techniques and practices, and exercise responsible and ethical decision-making adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a closely related discipline, with core domain knowledge in renewable energy engineering.
• Experience: 1+ years of relevant post-education experience in renewable energy engineering and prior civil design experience.
• Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, working knowledge of site grading, stormwater, and erosion and sedimentation controls, and understanding of stormwater permitting (NPDES).
• Bonus: Engineer in Training Certification, Project management experience for small to mid-level projects, past experience on site development projects (renewable energy) and client-facing, Master’s Degree in Engineering, or Licensed Professional Engineer.
